The newest Bond girl in the movie “Spectre”, no other than French actress Lea Seydoux is the chosen face of Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Fall 2016 Spirit of Travel Campaign. For this colorful ad campaign, the French luxury fashion house featured its latest handbags such as the Capucines and Steamer tote bags.

The Capucines bag is a dream come true for women who loves big and bold colors. The splash of fuchsia color paired with the luxurious crocodile skin is a fashion statement that makes all the difference, especially if you pair it over monochromatic ensembles such as black or white. Looking closely, one can notice that the interlocking LV logo in front finishes the extravagant look to it.

The Steamer bag on the other hand is quite new, released in the bag industry not too long ago. We have previously featured this bag: Louis Vuitton City Steamer Tote Bag. A beautiful and well-structured tote, the Steamer bag from Louis Vuitton is a divine perfection. For the Pre-Fall 2016 Ad Campaign, the Steamer got a facelift that it deserves which is appropriate for the coming fall with the combination of salmon pink, black and somewhat dark violet colors. It has a nametag, a hot-stamped LV circle and the engraved golden padlock for an added luxurious feel.

Fall-Winter 2016 Mens Louis Vuitton: Preview

Fashion Trends

IMAGE: LOUIS VUITTON

It’s early days yet before Louis Vuitton’s Fall-Winter 2016 Mens collection is upon us, but a sneak peek never hurt anyone, right? And because I’ve been the studying the press kit intently for everyone’s sake here, here’s what I know.

As far as bags and SLGs go, there are 3 main pillars for the season, Monogram Illusion(shown above), Monogram Eclipse (which you’ll see later in the post) and Camouflagepieces, which I’ve already featured a couple days back.

IMAGES: LOUIS VUITTON

Then there are all the accessories, and there are many, from thin neck scarves to stoles to other bits and bobs from key holders to necklaces and sunglasses. The Volez,Voguex, Voyagez brooches are love, that Trousse Toilette in Monogram Eclipse is functional and that signet ring is something that’s definitely on my own wish list.

And like I mentioned earlier, this is just a quick sneak peek, so there will definitely be more updates in the weeks to come. In case you’re wondering though, that ‘trunk’ you see in the first image is actually a tool box. More specifically, a mini tool box that comes with a shoulder sling as well. Kim Jones’ take on the Petite Malle for the guys? #mindblown

As promised, here’s a peek at a new bag from the F/W16 collection, the Monogram Eclipse Backpack Explorer that’s part-backpack, part-tote and all butch. Butch because well, it’s definitely for the more manly amongst you, the 44 cm by 30 cm by 16 cm backpack that’s big enough for you to lug around the kitchen sink and then some. No word on the price yet, but if you prefer something ‘cleaner’, the Backpack Explorer will also come in Taiga Mat, a new take on the traditional Taiga leather that’s touted to be lighter and more matte. Haven’t seen either yet in person, so expect more updates to come.

Fashion Trends

Julia-Nobis-for-Louis-Vuitton-Monogram-Collection-6

We’re almost there.

Louis Vuitton is about to release the Monogram Collection, but before that, they want you to see Julia Nobis’s latest Ad Campaign.

Not too long ago, we wrote an extensive article about the Monogram Iconoclasts Collection and we shared the entire history. But it’s basically a limited series of Monogram Accessories designed by the six world-class renowned designers – Karl Lagerfeld, Frank Gehry, Cindy Sherman, Marc Newson, Christian Louboutin and Rei Kawakubo.

And it’s not just another release, this one is special as you will see handbags crafted from artist that has gathered inspiration and experience around the world.

The most notable is Karl Lagerfeld’s punching bag collection. It also features the Monogram Punching Trunk and though the prices haven’t been published yet, we know it’s going to be expensive.

Okay, let’s drop some information. Ahum, the New York Times Magazine estimated the price to be around $175,000 USD. Yes, you heard it right!

But back to Julia Nobi’s Monogram Collection Ad Campaign, it’s a very personal thing. You see, she is spotted taking a selfie picture while carrying the Monogram Travel Shoulder Bag.

She is also featured with Cindy Sherman’s Monogram Studio Trunk in a messy room, Julia is lying on the couch and playing with her parrot.

Then another picture showed her face painted like a clown, with her eyes closed and sitting on the Monogram Studio Trunk (folded) and holding the Monogram Tote Bag.

So what do you think? Would you get one?

Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Jungle Dots Speedy 30 Bag
Size: 15.7′ x 10.6′ x 5.9′ (L x H x W) inches
Price: $1370 USD, €980 euro

The iconic Monogram Canvas gets a little twist again for this season. The French fashion house decides to mix it with the most-recent ‘Jungle Dots’ print to create and wild and cool look.

Here’s what you need to know…

The Jungle Dots Collection is purely made for the spring summer, which is why it’s also called the Palm Springs Collection. The Palm trees are carefully painted in pink and placed behind the red-bold dots.

The pattern is refreshing and joyful, the dots evokes wild and tropical animals passing through the palm leaves. The print is very feminine and perfect for a trendy bright summer style.

Love it.

This print is featured on iconic handbags like the speedy bag but as well as on small accessories like wallets. We’ve even spotted the wallet on chain.

Price: $4100 USD, €2850 euro

While Louis Vuitton made the Palm trees pink, there’s also another color available – green. So green Palm trees adorned with monogram canvas. I am not sure whether this style is practical for all seasons, but its certainly qualified for the summer.

Oh and they even painted the Palm trees in black with the recently-introduced infrarouge Monogram Canvas. The color Infrarouge looks dangerous but cool.

So can you choose?

Louis Vuitton To Host Cruise 2017 Show In Niterói Museum

Fashion Trends

It’s official – Louis Vuitton‘s cruise 2017 show will be out of this world. The runway will be the first show hosted within the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; an iconic building created by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in the shape of none other than a flying saucer. It is here where creative director Nicolas Ghesquière will unveil his latest creation for the luxury label; and what a lovely view, too, as the museum overlooks the Guanabara Bay.

Louis Vuitton To Host Cruise 2017 Show In Niterói Museum

When news broke that the brand would stage its show in Rio, we were nearly overwhelmed thinking of all the possibilities for the runway, especially with the show’s proximity to the Olympics, which will be held in Rio three months later. The hype for both events will definitely boost morale for the Vuitton team, and for fans far and wide. According to WWD, Vuitton’s show will be staged on May 28, which also just so happens to be the museum’s 20th anniversary.

The last Vuitton cruise collection was shown in Palm Springs at the Bob and Dolores Hope estate, and viewers remarked at its mild resemblance to a UFO, but this season the resemblance is uncanny, which will allow viewers to totally transport themselves into a new, and futuristic, state of mind. Ghesquière rather romanticized the concept, adding a bit of poetry to the idea by illustrating that using unconventional buildings for showing collections is all “about being transported into a relationship where nature, geography, and architecture come together.”

The museum, according to Niemeyer is like that of a flower, complete with a reflecting pool around its base, with a red ramp curving around it; this will become the red carpet for Vuitton’s celebrity guests, come May.

Luis Vuitton has been doing a lot with visual and digital art with its shows in recent seasons, so with this spectacular location as its source, we can only assume this trend will continue. The use of social media and even video games (remember Ghesquière’s crossover with Final Fantasy?) shows that Vuitton is a frontrunner with incorporating technology into fashion, so with a UFO-resembling museum, there is a great deal of potential for a futuristic, technological set of clothes, that still manages to be perfect for customers seeking stylish resortwear.

Something tells me in the years to come there will be a mad dash for luxury brands to reach extravagant, inspiring locations to showcase their collections. It is definitely not a new concept, but each season we at least know to look forward to new locations that are rather groundbreaking for the season and for the purposes of the designers; it’s just a matter of who will get to new locations first. But if you ask me, I think we’ll be seeing a lot of Louis Vuitton, fronted by Ghesquière, at the front of the pack.
